C4T Components: Academia

Independent and objective research, development, and systems integration is essential to the success of the C4T. Our partnership with universities builds collaborative efforts that deliver tangible value. Students get the opportunity to work in their field of study, side-by-side with professionals and Industry Leaders and the Government gets a pipeline to young, talented minds.

Our current partners include the following institutions:

George Mason University
We continue our partnership with George Mason University's Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering. And recently we expanded our partnership to include the Command, Control, Communications and Computing Intelligence (C4I) Center and the Mason Enterprise Center. Collaboration and innovation are at the center of the school's philosophy. Our partnership extends that philosophy outside the campus grounds into the C4T.

George Washington University
ManTech works through GWU’s Institute for Knowledge and Innovation (IKI), Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering. GWU holds the first accredited Knowledge Management program in North America. The program and IKI’s several hundred Community of Research/Practice members make major contributions to the global body of knowledge on a Theory to Practice Continuum.  IKI practitioners adapt theoretical constructs to manage and leverage knowledge assets creating enterprise strategic goals and executing tactical level mission objectives to produce tangible results for public, private, and academic entities.   KM/IM collaborative architecture designs and projects are executed using systems engineering and complex decision modeling principles.  IKI works through research grants and its Business Alliance structure.

Georgia Tech Research Institute
The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the nonprofit applied research arm of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. Employees conduct research and development in systems engineering, integrated sensing, information and communication technologies, and related areas for a broad base of customers. From developing new systems to keeping older systems state-of-the-art, GTRI’s scientists and engineers drive innovation beyond the basics to prototyping, field testing and real-time, real-scenario performance.

Penn State
The C4T is partnered with Penn State's Electro-Optics Alliance. The focus of the program is to develop technical solutions for the Department of Defense. The partnership builds bridges into ongoing research in fiber optics, photonics, and laser development.

University of South Carolina
ManTech is currently partnered with the University of South Carolina’s (USC) Center for Information Assurance Engineering (CIAE) research and educational unit. CIAE is part of the ongoing effort at USC to increase information systems security awareness and develop high quality education and research in this area. Faculty and students associated with the CIAE are working in a broad spectrum of security topics and issues. The Center’s goal is to become one of the leading academic institutes in the Unites States in Information Security Education.

University of Mary Washington
The University of Mary Washington has a long and storied history in liberal arts studies; however, the university is extending its reach. Their recent expansion in the field of computer science and information systems speaks to their commitment to technology education. Our collaborative efforts further strengthen that commitment. Our latest collaboration includes partnering with the university’s Dahlgren Education and Research Center.

Virginia Tech
ManTech has worked with Virginia Tech, leveraging the technical expertise resident within Wireless@VT, for many years.  The C4T welcomes a relationship with Wireless@VT for future collaborative Research & Development to define innovative operational solutions for our clients.  The evolution and maturation of our relationship with Virginia Tech will significantly enhance the technical offerings of the C4T.
